Congratulations! Your daughter has officially become of age! Having a daughter of this age can be difficult but Wish Wonder Dream is here to make sure her Bat Mitzvah is everything you both hoped it would be! Planning a Bat Mitzvah for your little girl starts almost 3 years before her coming of age. The first thing you want to make sure you do about 3 years out from their birthday is contact the synagogue or temple and learn about the process and how/when your child will prepare for the event. You also want to start reaching out to caterers and other vendors to keep the communication open!
About a year away from the event make sure all the vendors are booked and you have a theme ready to go! The most important thing to do at this stage is to help your child decide on a community service or Bat Mitzvah project idea. Many families find that the meaningfulness of the event is enhanced when a tzedakah [charity] project is established.
6 months before the event make sure to send out invitations, finish deciding on center pieces, and choose the party favors for your guests. It is also very important that you are keeping up with your child’s tutor to keep abreast of your child’s progress. Keep a calm, encouraging attitude toward your child as he or she progresses through the course of study.
A few months before the event make sure everything is set, and all vendors are contracted and ready to make your daughter’s day special. And finally, a week before your event make sure you have a final guest count and have people to help you set up on the day of the big day!
The most important part of this large party is making sure your daughter has an amazing night and really understands the values and traditions that this coming of age brings about. Following these small guidelines will allow you to guarantee that her Bat Mitzvah goes off without a hitch!
