Whitney Wing Drake

Owner & Studio Manager

Born and raised in Southern California, Whitney likes to joke that she never had a choice but to be an event planner. Her parents had owned art galleries for 10 years before she was even born, so she spent her childhood helping her mom plan & execute art release parties, artist signings, anniversary parties for the galleries (she remembers sitting on the floor with her mom looking through CDs trying to find songs with a "sweet 16" theme for the gallery's 16th), and so on. Whitney's first job was at her neighborhood movie theatre. She applied with the expectation that she'd scoop popcorn and tear tickets but became interested in the theatre's special events and volunteered to run the annual charity drive for special needs children, The Variety Hearts Club. Her theatre raised the highest number of dollars for Variety Hearts in the country that year.

She then headed a few promotional events for upcoming films and won a National Prize from Paramount Pictures. Soon, and still at only 17 years of age she began partnering with the Head of Marketing for Paramount Pictures and attended planning lunches at the Studio lot to brainstorm upcoming campaigns for her theatre together.

Whitney was then recruited to join the management team and assist with Marketing for Arclight Cinemas' flagship location in Hollywood. She was involved in planning and executing movie premieres, private screenings, press events, etc. When The Crocodile Hunter Movie premiered Whitney got to be part of shutting down Sunset Blvd. to make way for the elephants and ostrichs to march down the red carpet. A few years later, after planning her own wedding to her husband Daniel, Whitney realized corporate events weren't really where her passions lied anymore.  Thus, she made the decision to go into weddings. In 2007, after completing her degree from UCLA (in Philosophy, with an emphasis in Ethics) Whitney launched Wish Wonder Dream.

Whitney lives in Sherman Oaks, CA with her husband, their two children (4 years and 10 mos.), their Cavalier King Charles, and their calico kitty. Whitney has spoken at the UKAWP (United Kingdom Alliance of Wedding Planners) Annual Convention in London, England, The Roberto Miranda Educational Seminar for Brazilian Wedding Planners, and for the HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association).

My Favorite Day Dream

Walking the streets of London - any streets (I love them all) and just getting lost in the sights and sounds of the local pub, the historical buildings with such incredilble stories to tell, the colorful front doors, and eavesdropping on those fabulous British accents

Three Adjectives to Describe My Style

Perfect Song for a First Dance

I got married almost 8 years ago and I’d choose my song all over again: “Everything I Do” by Bryan Adams. I also love “Have A Little Faith in Me” by John Hiatt, “I Won’t Let You Go” by James Morrison, and “Guiding Light" by Foy Vance.

My Favorite Moment at a Wedding

Standing at the end of the aisle, waiting for the bride and groom to recess and getting to congratulate them on becoming husband and wife. The looks on their faces are completely priceless and it's an enormous honor to get to be the very first to say that to them.
